As you know, our current 2012 Kansas Child Support Calculator supports the 2012 guidelines (Administrative Order 216) only during the first quarter of 2012. So when will it be ready for use on worksheets intended for periods after April 1?
The OJA staff have been very cooperative in seeking to resolve several issues we (and many others) raised about technical errors in the new 2012 guidelines. Now that the issues are being addressed (we are receiving copies of the draft amendments), we are able to test an update which will calculate both the “first quarter” and “the remainder of 2012” child support worksheets in a single program.
We are meeting with the Supreme Court’s Child Support Guidelines Advisory Committee on March 23, 2012 with the hope that they will be able to complete the drafting of the technical corrections, primarily revolving around the replacement of the “80/20” (“Shared Custody”) rule with a new “Equal Parenting Formula” adjustment.
All current 2012 subscribers will receive the update automatically, without cost, as soon as we release it. Just be sure to allow the program to update itself whenever it requests permission.
